Wilson party draws Venus, Serena, Roger
By Liza Horan
New York—Venus and Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Juan Martin Del Potro, and retiring Jonas Bjorkman were among the players hitting Mansion nightclub for the Wilson bash. While Serena Williams and Federer mostly stuck to the upstairs VIP room, Juan, Jonas and Venus mixed with guests.
A visor-topped Venus came straight from the courts in her signature Eleven tenniswear, while her sister and Federer got dolled up for the occasion. Spectacular crystal chandeliers and the biggest disco balls on the planet hung from the ceiling as bartenders served a signature cocktail with p.i.n.k. vodka, which contains caffeine and guarana.
An ice sculpture the size of a table anchored one side of the massive space, while industry insiders simultaneous talked tennis and swayed to the beat. A special touch to the evening included the presentation of a special award and a custom Wilson golf bag and set of clubs to Bjorkman, who talked about his hopes to improve on the green upon his retirement, and said, "Now I have no excuse!"
